Project: Dashboard redesign
Company: BetaCrew
Role: UI/UX Designer
Timeline: 1 month
📋Problem Statement
BetaCrew, a company specializing in connecting businesses with skilled developers, needed a complete overhaul of their online portal within a tight one-month deadline. Their goal was to enhance the user experience for developers, clients, and administrators by redesigning the entire platform, from the login screen to the payment gateway.
💡Solution
Here's a breakdown of the implemented design improvements:
User Interface (UI) revamp: The entire BetaCrew portal received a visual facelift, prioritizing a clean, intuitive, and user-friendly interface. It improved navigation, and a consistent design language was introduced throughout the platform.
Feature enhancements: New features were implemented to cater to the specific needs of each user group:
Developers: Skill-based matching system that connected developers with projects based on their specific skills and experience, reducing project onboarding time and increasing developer satisfaction.
Clients:
Project dashboards: Interactive dashboards provide clients with a clear and up-to-date view of project progress, including milestones, resource allocation, and budget tracking.
Progress reports: Clients received regular, automated reports summarizing project progress, key metrics, and potential roadblocks, reducing the need for manual communication.
Integrated meeting: This tool could also automatically generate meeting links for popular video conferencing services like Zoom or Google Meet, streamlining communication and reducing back-and-forth emails.
Admins:
Customizable user roles: Granular control over user permissions allowed admins to create custom user roles for developers and clients, ensuring data security and access control.
Billing & invoicing: Streamlined billing and invoicing processes with automated calculations and secure payment gateways, reducing administrative overhead and improving financial efficiency.
📈Result:
While the redesigned BetaCrew portal wasn't launched due to internal disputes, the project resulted in a user-friendly and feature-rich prototype that was well-received by internal testers.
Positive user feedback: Team members from all user groups (developers, clients, and admins) reportedly loved the design and flow of the website. The implemented changes significantly improved user experience.
🧠Learning:
This project highlights the importance of user-centered design and rapid prototyping. Although the final product wasn't released, the process yielded valuable insights into user needs and preferences. By incorporating this feedback into future iterations, BetaCrew can develop a portal that effectively addresses user pain points and strengthens its position in the market.
